Priscilla Whimsy, her psyche flimsy Lives alone in a flat over the bookshop She hordes used tissues and daddy issues Gets her way with a smile and a riding crop The customers never hear a sound She spends her days waiting for the other shoe to drop Professor Thompson can’t clear his conscience But he can bare it if the right girl would just eavesdrop Priscilla friended, and so he sent it Once he started, he could never find the way to stop The wrong move happened so long ago He lies awake waiting for the other shoe to drop She heard those voices, she made her choices Left better parts of her scraped off on the blacktop She said her regrets, tried not to forget The way down is longer when you start out from the top She’s learned hard to listen for that sound Days spent waiting for the other shoe to drop The wrong move happened so long ago She lies awake waiting for the other shoe to drop She lies awake waiting for the other shoe to drop

Crossed the quantum realm Found the wormhole, too Got my hand on the wheel Now I don’t know what to do Lord have mercy on me I’ve got the time travel blues We had it all worked out We had a mighty plan I brought the whole thing down Like some ruptured old dam Lord have mercy on me I’ve got the time travel blues You know the part where we go back And take out all the bad pieces? Well did anyone consider Our future nephews and nieces? You see the problem here is not The physics of flight But what if making one more edit Leads to something less than right? Lord have mercy on me I’ve got the time travel blues No, I cannot pull the lever I’ve got the time travel blues The future’s ours to make, but No assurance can be found Like some cosmic Jenga game Will it all come crashing down? Will it all come crashing down? How I wish that I knew Will it all come crashing down? I’ve got the time travel blues When I saw it in the movies It seemed so perfectly fated I thought I’d feel like a hero And rather emancipated We’ve come a long, long way There is no turning back But wouldn’t it be for the best If we keep things on the track? If we keep things on the track And stick with things that we knew I’m afraid to play God I’ve got the time travel blues If we delete the world’s problems Where does that leave me and you? If we delete the world’s problems Where does that leave me and you?

Big Sandy 05:45
Down where the river cuts through the Tug Valley Big Sandy had a gin joint surrounded by alleys Through a dirty old glass Big Sandy could mask your pain She wore an old leather jacket with a bomber patch She had a smile like a tiger and the claws to match She had a mean streak where the dye in her hair used to be And when Friday night broke she’d tell the same old jokes For half a dollar more she’d roll you a smoke She’d hide her teeth in a jar but lay the goods on the bar for free And the boys said roll, Big Sandy roll Act like all those years didn’t take their toll Reflections in the neon lights of every heart you stole You gotta roll Big Sandy roll Late Summer nights looking for another vice Old Kokomo Jack would get out the dice He could roll all night and into the light of the day Till he challenged Big Sandy to a winner-take-all Then he saw his bad luck bouncing off that wall With the markers signed he tilted blind as could be Big Sandy took the bones and she leaned on back She gummed a little smile to Kokomo Jack With the seven-come-elevens taking up the slack you see And the boys said roll, Big Sandy roll. She could make her point and then hit ten in a row You better button up your shirt, old Jack, or off your back it goes You gotta roll, Big Sandy, roll Sandy passed away on a cold winter night Father Jim wasn’t there to deliver last rites That blessed sacrament appeared it wasn’t meant to be They built her a coffin using wood from the bar And they put her in the back of that funeral car But the rear door latch didn’t seem to catch, you see They hit a patch of black ice going around the ridge The door popped open, then the coffin lid Like tumbling dice to the river Sandy’s body slid carefree And the boys said roll, Big Sandy, roll That muddy riverbank will coat you black as coal But if you make it to the water, well it just might save your soul You gotta roll, Big Sandy, roll, Big Sandy, roll, Big Sandy, roll

It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past free You tend to use my loving up and Be rid of me A few minutes of loving Leads to hours of blues It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past through Honey makin’ time with you is the Hardest thing of all You don’t wanna look at me just the Clock on the wall Momma used to tell me that Time heals all wounds But you keep your little hands away You’re leavin’ soon and… It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past free You tend to use my loving up and Be rid of me A few minutes of loving Leads to hours of blues It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past through Well the good book use to tell me ‘bout Everything in time The sweetest things all show their faces In the bye-and-bye And here I planned to take my stand and sing You a lullaby But you ignored those sacred words As you looked me in the eye It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past free You tend to use my loving up and Be rid of me A few minutes of loving Leads to hours of blues It’s a quarter to heartbreak You’re half-past through You should’ve noticed me tapping my wrist I don’t have one more minute for this So you’d better find you some other man See I’m clocking you out of the plan How…dare…you… Treat me like a fool Do you think I’m blind? Tick tock you’re number’s finally up You’re out of time How dare you Treat me like a fool You’ve lost your shine Tick tock your number’s finally up You’re out of time

Our high school days were all about prepping In various ways I can picture Bob schlepping Played a little football but he didn’t go far Did all right chasing girls in his Camaro car Well Bob was sharp, but he was a kind of a clown There were few long faces when Bob was around His family struggled, and his dad was a ghost Still Bob was money when you needed him most That was so long ago now it’s been twenty years Hit the class reunion have a couple of beers I was working the room like those networking men When I noticed the absence of our curious friend Would he make an appearance? Would he ride in on a Harley Davidson? Would he run interference- Making mischief behind the stadium? Was he stuck in a line? Where you pay through the nose for a cheap red wine? Whatever happened to Bob? Whatever happened to Bob? The night danced along but there was no Bob in sight My mind was disturbed you know it didn’t feel right The band played on, yet our attention was spent Room full of rumors, speculations to vent Did he die in a fire? Or was he abducted by aliens? Did he yearn to climb higher Than us middling homo sapiens? Gone before his time? Trapped inside the grind of his American mind? Whatever happened to Bob? Whatever happened to Bob? There was no need to fuss, was no reason to panic Maybe Bob was stranded with his auto mechanic Some resourceful genius found a number to call Rolled straight to voicemail but that wasn’t all Really hope you don’t mind how we’ve led you along You’ll hear more about Bob in a subsequent song

Adrielle 03:52
I can’t seem to fix the problem You can fix the blame You don’t even know the first thing about it You write it off just the same But that’s alright That’s alright, Adrielle You’ve run toward many lovers You’ve run off many friends Said you were gonna rise above it but You’re doing it once again But that’s alright That’s alright, Adrielle No bleach can clean your black conscience No crane can lift this heavy weight Some burdens we can’t even carry Some lines that we can’t make straight Sitting on the porch, dreadnought humming Wishing upon a star Thinking about the words you can never take back, and Wondering where you are But that’s alright That’s alright, Adrielle

Was there something in your eyes I didn’t see? Were you holding back when you were touching me? Why didn’t I know what everyone else knew? That you were just another lover passing through Could I have felt the touch of doubt in your embrace Should I have seen the somewhere else upon your face I lie awake at night sifting through all the clues That you were just another lover passing through Did you know I was the fool? Did you see it in my eyes? Or did it slowly dawn on you Sitting through another empty sunrise? Did you know I was the fool? Did you see it in my eyes? Or did it slowly dawn on you Sitting through another empty sunrise? Now another man is taking your real love You tell him all the secrets you’ve been thinking of How will it feel the day he looks away and tells you That he was just another lover passing through?

Lights in the sky above me A deafening noise to guide me Through crowds in the street that shove me Down Caught in a dream exciting Painting the sky with lightning Follow the poet’s writing Down So, wake up the sun No time to lose Tell it to rise on Up in the sky Now, too late to run No time to choose Your time to shine Get ready to fly Remember that nighttime falling Is merely the new day calling The moon draws the sun from his chamber Above The rays shine between night’s places Lighting up shadowed spaces Igniting a fire born of radiant Love So, wake up the sun No time to lose Tell it to rise on Up in the sky Now, too late to run No time to choose Your time to shine Get ready to fly Wake up the sun…shine Wake up the sun…shine Wake up the sun…shine

Too many poems about flowers Sonnets and prose piled to the sky Flowers are pretty but they’re fragile They brown and they wither as the time goes by Then there’s the rose of the valley Then there’s the woman right in front of me She is my Rose of Sharon Planted firmly for everyone to see Oh, my Rose of Sharon Dreams in her sigh Time wraps around her Tears in my eye These are the words that mean I love you These are the blooms alive when others have dried These are the words that mean I love you These are the eyes that read between the lines The fragrant smell among the vines Oh, my Rose of Sharon Dreams in her sigh Time wraps around her Tears in my eye

Yeah No 03:17
I wanted fast, but she wanted slow She turned to me and said “yeah…no” She was a lady of particular taste I was the chaser and she was the chaste I saw those eyes and I got lost With so much want the signals got crossed So much desire, so much at stake I felt my pity poor heart start to break She looked at me with indifferent eyes No more intention than clouds in the sky I wanted fast, but she wanted slow She turned to me and said “yeah…no” I wanted yes, but she wouldn’t go She turned to me and said “yeah…no” On my knees taking a beating Is this how she makes me pay? Breathlessly, barely breathing What she wants I cannot say Lights in the cafe were starting to dim At half-past nothing, my future was grim So, one more near-miss, another dead end We never made it to “just good friends” We walked in silence to her front stairs Me in frustration and her without cares Then I accused her of hiding her cards, and she said “Not hard to get, I just play hard” I thought to leave I started to go She turned to me and said “Hello!”

Don’t recall much of when I first met you, but the Next time around it was nearly a cold code blue (Cause that’s what you do) Remember in September in the pouring rain? From that moment on you’ve been running ‘round my brain (There she goes again) ‘Cause you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Yes, you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Never been in love before Do I sense a little magic in your fingertips? There can be no debate when the subject is your lips (More than wage plus tips) You’re a wonder of creation you’re a form of grace A crown on your head would not be seem of place (Shines upon your face) ‘Cause you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Yes, you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Never been in love before Being next to you - what a feeling Skies are blue, all my senses reeling I feel the change in me like water to wine I thought I’d seen everything, and everything had seen me I thought the weight of the day was just the way it was supposed to be (Like the ABCs) You’re the Western wind you’re the ocean breeze After all this time how do I still get weak in the knees (Someone tell me, please) ‘Cause you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Yes, you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Never been in love before Yes you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Yes, you make me feel like I’ve never been in love before Never been in love before
